February 22, 2017These compilation is one among a series of around 2500 "special pictures" captured by New South Wales Police Department photographers from the year 1910 to 1930. Most shots were taken in the jail cells at the Central Police Station, and as curator Peter Doyle explains, these "special photographs" were of "men and women recently plucked from the street, often still animated by the dramas surrounding their apprehension".
