North Korea, ruled by Kim Jung-un portrays itself as prosperous, self-sufficient and well-governed… but the truth is far from it. In order to give us a unique glimpse into the North Korea's everyday lives, two photographers risked everything.

The photos shown below were taken by Michal Huniewicz and Eric Lafforgue when they visited the country in 2015. Lafforgue was banned from ever visiting North Korea again after the pictures went public.
