Couple Discover Fortune Hidden in Their Ceiling for 60 Years

Imgur use Branik12was remodeling his house when he stumbled upon a mysterious old box. He decided to share his discovery to the Reddit community, he wrote
He wrote, “So my family and I have been living in our house we bought some years back. The house was built in the late 40s … I had remodeled everything on the first and second floors when it came time to remodel the basement.”
As they were tearing down parts of the roof, they came across some scribbles all over the wall. Nothing too exciting yet...
Until he noticed small old-fashioned, dusty, suitcase jammed into the ceiling.
Branik12 says that he replaced the box, after excitedly grabbing it out and cleaning it, to photograph it’s location — that’s why the box looks so clean in the above photo.
He pulled it out and decided to unwrap the string and crack open the mysterious box, describing it as “kinda heavy”.
The contents were wrapped in an old newspaper, which was dated March 25, 1951. Branik12 guessed the box must’ve been hidden around that time.
As he unwrapped the paper, Branik12 discovered a bunch of dollars. “There’s money in here! I am guessing a thousand or more!” he wrote, “We are freaking out at this point. This doesn’t happen to us! What do we do? Where are the cameras?”
“The second package didn’t have any twenties. It was all fifties! What is going on here! This is out of control!”
They tracked down a lawyer to check if they could claim the money (they could!) and identified the rarer notes, including nearly-uncirculated star notes and gold certificate bills.
Branik12 and his wife planned how they were going to spend the thousand-dollar discovery on their mortgage payment.
Weeks later the couple continued their DIY and came upon a second, identical, box.
Branik12 cleaned up the box and waited for her to return from work so they could open the box together.
Unbelievably the case contained even more cash, bringing the total money discovered in their home to a whopping $45,000!
“The notes of value were sold, about 20 had value over the face value plus grading cost, and about 10 were worth 4 times face value.”
The couple are looking forward to completely paying off their mortgage early and moving to the country.
