Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee from Texas expressed her desire to be one of the first people to live on the moon, claiming it is made of gases.

She made these comments to a group of teenagers during an eclipse-viewing event at Booker T. Washington High School in Houston, where she also shared other scientifically questionable statements.
