Texas Governor Greg Abbott faced a setback in court as a federal court issued a temporary block on the state's new deportation law, preventing it from being enforced on March 5.

The United States District Court for the Western District of Texas granted a preliminary injunction to halt Texas Senate Bill 4, which had received overwhelming approval with an 88 to 4 vote.
