States planning to ban the sale of gas-powered cars

Following President Biden's ambitious climate goals, several states are taking significant steps towards a greener future by planning to ban the sale of gas-powered vehicles within the next decade. Eight states as well as Washington DC have adopted California's Advanced Clean Cars II rules that aim to phase out new gas vehicle sales by 2035.

Supporters argue it will significantly reduce emissions and push the auto industry toward electric vehicles (EVs). These states include California, Rhode Island, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Washington, and the District of Columbia.
