Top CEO Weighs In On Employees Working From Home

According to Dropbox cofounder and CEO Drew Houston, he regards his employees as customers and believes in providing them with what they desire, which does not include in-person work.

"We will support however they want to gather," Houston said in a new interview with The Verge. "But we're finding that these retreats and off-sites and things like that are often a lot more effective than asking people to commute." Houston criticized other business leaders for making the mistake of mandating employees to return to the office.

Despite this, many companies, including tech giants like Google, Apple, and Amazon, are implementing a hybrid work structure that requires employees to split their time between remote and in-office work. During the interview, Houston made a general statement regarding the enforcement of return-to-office policies saying, "They keep mashing the go back to 2019 button, and they see it's not working."
