University Suspends Students for Organizing Anti-Israel Encampment

Students organize anti-Israel encampment

George Washington University is initiating disciplinary measures against student leaders involved in the anti-Israel encampment established on the university's main lawn.

The protest against GW's financial connections with companies operating in Israel and the U.S. backing of Israel's military actions against Hamas began on Thursday and led to the university issuing interim suspensions to several students on Friday.

“Unlike many demonstrations in the past, this encampment violated several university policies, including the unauthorized use of reserved space, which was held for the GW Law finals, and a failure to comply with administrative directions,” GW said in an update on Friday.
