The comedy-drama television series Flying High, aired from August 28, 1978 to January 23, 1979. The main three characters, played by Kathryn Witt, Connie Sellecca, and Pat Klous, were all recruited from top New York modeling agencies. They had very specific requirements for the level of attractiveness… having any actual acting experience they were lenient on. This was meant to be just one of a number of “jiggle era” television programs a and its 2-hour pilot episode aired during the summer re-run season, so it was the most-watched prime time show of the week. But by mid-October it was painfully clear by the low ratings and negative reviews accusing it of trying to copy the success of Charlie's Angels that Flying High wouldn’t last. By January of 1979 it was over.

A 'tail' of two mermaids at work in Disneyland (1967)

In the weeks prior to Disneyland’s Submarine Voyage’s grand opening, they placed an advertisement in the local newspaper ad calling for “mermaids” and like clockwork, hundreds of strong swimmers with flowing locks and slim figures showed up for what was no doubt, an awesome job. Although… the early costume prototype was certainly not without its flaws.
According to Suzanne Brewster, a former mermaid, there was a wardrobe malfunction the first day the costumes arrived. Brewster, who was 18 at the time, told HuffPost that she was asked to demonstrate her dolphin kick for a group of Disney executives. “When I came up for air, all the men were turned around facing the other direction. My instructor leaned over and said, ‘Your top came off!’”

I Got My 'Eyes' Set On You! George Harrison clowning around in 1964.

George Harrison was 16-years old when he dropped out of school, much to his father’s displeasure, to focus on music. During that time, he played with the Beatles, worked as an electrician and at a local department store. In these early years, the Beatles performed a series of shows in various clubs in and around Hamburg, Germany. By the time this photo was taken, they could afford to goof off a bit. Bach is also responsible for Daisy Duke’s attire, the early idea was to have her in a tight white turtleneck, go-go boots, and a poodle skirt. But Bach went ahead and threw together a T-shirt, a pair of cut-off denim shorts, with some high heels, and the rest is history. The television series aired on CBS from January 26, 1979, to February 8, 1985. Interestingly enough, while starring on The Dukes of Hazzard, Bach had her legs insured for $1,000,000.

Mick and Bianca Jagger just after their wedding in St. Tropez, France. She was 4 months pregnant then and was the only woman he ever wed. '71

Mick Jagger at Jagger's wedding with Bianca Moreno in Saint Tropez was a confusing embarrassment. Between four different people claiming to be the "best man" and the last minute obstacles the couple faced, it's a wonder the wedding happened when it did at all.
They found out, that under French Law, they needed to have a civil ceremony in the town hall before they could have their church ceremony. The town hall of course, was opened to the public which reporters took full advantage of. The paparazzi invasion was so intense the priest locked the church and Mick had to bang on the doors to be let into his own wedding in front of reporters.
They also found out last minute they had to legally declare "what property they had in common" which wasn't as much as Bianca thought and she threatened to call the wedding off. It was later described as, “the shabbiest free-for-all in the history of both rock and marriage and skin-crawlingly embarrassing for all the key participants.”
Unsurprisingly, the Jagger and Moreno ended up divorcing in 1978, after spending 7-years raising their daughter Jade together.

'The bet is on, whoever loses her virginity first, wins!' Little Darlings was a teen film starring Kristy McNicol and Tatum O'Neal. 1980

It’s while away at summer camp (because that’s where all the good 80’s shenanigans happen) that all the girls in camp begin betting money on which virgin they think will do the deed first. One group is rooting for Ferris (Tatum O'Neal) and the other group in on team Angel (Kristy McNichol). The girls choose their "targets", and embark on their mission.
Naturally the two competitors are complete opposites: Angle is cynical, streetwise, and comes from a poor background. Ferris is far more naive, sheltered and prissy. She’s a rich girl and a romantic. Regardless of their differences, both girls discover that "it" is not what they thought it was.

Oh man, who remembers having to fill one of these splooshy things up? Or how about trying to repair them with those little patch kits once they sprung a leak? Ugh. The modern version of the waterbed was patented in 1971, and became a ridiculously popular consumer item in the United States all through out the 1980s. It seemed like everyone had one, then suddenly no one had them anymore. They currently they account for less than 5% of new bed sales…. Guess the groovy novelty just wore off.
